Arbor Cove Therapy, LLC, exists to provide high-quality mental health services supporting growth and offering a safe place where restoration can occur and a fresh course for life can be charted. Services are provided to children and adolescents between the ages of 3 and 18 and to families and adult women.
The practice specializes in treating issues and challenges related to adoption; however, I also enjoy working with clients not connected to adoption for mental health needs, including recovery from trauma, anxiety, and depression, as well as relationship development through parent coaching.
I earned a Master of Social Work from The University of Georgia in 2001 and was licensed by the state of Georgia as a clinical social worker in 2005 (#CSW003510). My specialization in mental health needs related to adoption and complex trauma developed over the course of 15 years' experience working with children, teens, and adults who were adopted or in foster care, as well as birth, foster, and adoptive families.
My post-graduate training has included a wide variety of courses including adoption, grief and loss, attachment, complex trauma, sensory processing disorder, mood and anxiety disorders, ADHD, parenting, play therapy, healthy relationships, fetal alcohol spectrum disorders, self-regulation, mindfulness, and neuroscience. I am a registered play therapist (RPT), credentialed by the Association for Play Therapy, and am working towards certification in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
My passion, whether working with people involved in adoption or the general population, is helping clients experience healing in their mind, emotions, spirit, and relationships from trauma-related injuries, especially those suffered in early childhood.
