Suzanne M. Clark, MA, LPC
Associate of Arbor Cove Therapy, LLC
Background
Suzanne M. Clark, MA, LPC has over 30 years experience working with the entire adoption constellation: birth mothers, birth fathers, adoptive parents and adopted persons. Her professional experience began while in college at Auburn University when she volunteered to work with pregnant adolescents and their families. After college, Suzanne began working as a foster care caseworker where she began to learn the lifelong effects of early trauma. Since then, she has continued to gather a wealth of insight and education that has cultivated a dynamic understanding of trauma and loss in adoption.
Suzanne's work both internationally and domestically has involved adoption reunion, birth parent counseling, adoptive and foster parent training, as well as adoption competency and trauma education for professionals in the field. Suzanne maintains an intimate understanding of the wide-range of emotions experienced by all members of the adoption constellation throughout their lifetime. Her ideal client would be any adult person dealing with issues surrounding adoption grief and loss, as well as adults experiencing other losses or challenging life transitions.
Currently, Suzanne sees adult clients and also offers consultative services to professionals eager to learn more about how adoption and trauma affects their clients and families.
